Today, I received notice from Barclays Bank that they will (from the 1st January 2023) be limiting cash deposits at the post office to £10000 per year. This is going to be a real problem for me as I pay my weekly income into my bank account, in cash every week at the post office.

BUT there is a cash deposit limit of £20k per year, this cannot be changed. The value of the cash limit can vary but we cannot find an explanation for why it is there. I have a personal Starling account and I phone them and my limit is £5k, the phone person could not explain why it is there.

You can hold up to a million or two in each of umpteen savings accounts if this is what you want to do. Only £85K across Lloyds (and others who might share the same banking licence) will be FSCS protected.

edited 26 May 2021 at 6:18AM. A single payment of £2.5k won't raise suspicions, especially at a Post Office as they aren't your bank. Your bank will look for unusual patterns and high amounts. Deposit £2,500 every day for a couple of weeks and your bank may start investigating. Posts:
