The PlayStation 4 ( PS4) is a home video game console developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. Announced as the successor to the PlayStation 3 in February 2013, it was launched on November 15, 2013, in North America, November 29, 2013, in Europe, South America, and Australia, and on February 22, 2014, in Japan.
The original release of the game included ten playable characters, with two more being added post-launch before the game was retitled to Exe:Late. The roster currently has a total of 27 fighters as of Under Night In-Birth II [Sys:Celes] and one of its Season Pass DLC, with two of these being guest characters from other fighting games.
Sony released a PlayStation 4 bundle with the unit painted in the colors of the arm. The physical PC release of The Phantom Pain only includes a CD key and a disc with a Steam installer contained within. Game files are not included on-disc and must be downloaded. Tie-in products were released for the game.
The addition of Photo Mode was well received. TechRadar ' s Swider named the mode as a standout feature, while IGN ' s Moriarty complimented the availability to capture "gorgeous" images using the feature. The adjustment of the controls received praise, with Moriarty of IGN particularly approving of the DualShock 4's triggers.
