The service/maintenance booklet for my 5 speed manual 98 Ranger says change the manual transmission "oil" at 55,000 miles but the vehicle is now at 97,000 miles and it's never been done yet. The owners manual specifies the fluid to use is 2.8 quarts of Mercon ATF (although for some reason the service schedule refers to the fluid as "manual ...

ford, ranger, manual-transmissions. aw55 May 22, 2018, 11:27pm 1. I have a 2004 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a 5-Speed manual transmission. I noticed that in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears there is a whine/rattle noise coming from the shifter which I assume to be coming from the transmission itself. It only does this in the gears mentioned above.

Ford Ranger 3.0 Litre Turbodiesel Manual Transmission, 4x4. Ford Ranger made a single brief spontaneous grinding noise while already engaged in 3rd gear without any action applied to the clutch or gear lever. Vehicle was accelerating up a mild slope. The same occurrence happened in 5th gear after completing an incline as the slope flattened and I eased off the throttle. Torque was still ...

Change it now, you might get lucky, but I suspect you may need a new transmission. 1 Like. PvtPublic December 31, 2022, 1:31pm 5. Purebred:

I have a 97 Ford Ranger (Manual) with 213,123 miles on her. that is very ill. I was stopped in traffic today, when suddenly I lost the use of my clutch. It would not let me push in the clutch to put it into first gear. I turned off the engine and tried putting it into first before starting it (this has worked for me in the past) , but no luck. Some kind person helped me get it off the road ...

1996 Ford Ranger 4-Cyl. 90,000 miles. 5 speed manual transmission. When the truck is driven 10-15 miles and heats up the clutch will seize in the up position. Once the engine is turned off then it can’t be turned back on because the clutch won’t depress. After the truck has completely cooled down the clutch and the transmission again work fine, as long as I keep any use under about 10 ...

  11. What all should I replace when installing a manual transmission

    www.rangerforum.com/threads/what-all-should-i-replace-when-installing-a-manual...

The 5 speed manual trans in the Ranger (and some F-150's) has the shifter travel limiters built into the synchros, not the cover or gate. That means when you drive down the road, in 4th gear with your hand resting on the shifter, (I'm guilty of it) you are putting unnecessary loads on the shift fork.
