Aside from the larger displacement, the Super has the following: 4 reed pyramid vs single reed on the XL-12. ball bearing on the clutch side vs small needle bearing on the XL-12. much larger oil tank & a auto oiler.

Reaction score. 51. Location. VA. Dec 23, 2009. #1. My brother and I took my Dad's old Homelite Super XL and gave it a carb kit/tune-up a while back and finally got to put the old saw to work cutting some firewood. This saw was bought new in the mid 70's and is red in color. It has cut tons of firewood over the years, but until recently had ...

Two versions were made, XL-12 and Super XL. The XL-12 had 54cc and manual oiler, Super XL had 58cc and both manual and automatic oiling. Came in two colors, older XL-12s were normally blue and white and the later runs of that saw were red. Same with the Super XLs, I have 1 blue and 2 red ones. Paid $20 for a runner with a parts saw, fuel line ...

I was given an old Homelite Super 2 16" chainsaw, the kind with the magnesium case. Paint is coming off and everything is extremely dirty, but appears to have good compression and scoping the cylinder doesn't show any grooves or signs on damage on the piston or bore.

Mini soda. Sep 17, 2002. #6. As consumer models go, the 330 was miles ahead of, say, a modern poulan 46 cc job with 20" bar, but not at all in the class of the Homelite 360, with which it was current. Pulse operated oiler works, barely adequate. Air cleaner barely adequate, and small...must be cleaned often. Cost about $10 for a twin-pack of them.

Albion, Mendocino Co. CA. Jul 15, 2008. #1. Hi all, good looking forum you have here, lot of knowledge. Just picked up an old Bandit LX-30 (yes, that's what it says, LX not XL) at a yard sale, along with an XL for parts. Both for $30 and the Bandit started right up and ran like a champ. Hope I've got a nice limbing saw and can keep it running...
