My girlfriend bought us year long memberships to 24hourfitness last year. Total was about $400. We wanted to change gyms, and stopped going to 24hour fitness about 3 months ago because we weren’t happy with the facilities.
Has anyone been able to successfully freeze or cancel their 24 hour gym membership? I haven’t tried to freeze/cancel my LA Fitness membership yet, and would love to hear anyone’s experience with that as well. TLDR: Fiancé has been unable to freeze or cancel 24 hour fitness membership and is being charged $50 per month when all gyms are closed.
Like the title says, I have 24 hour fitness membership. I have a month to month membership and autopay enabled to my credit card. The gyms are closed, but we are still being charged. An announcement said that our membership will be extended by however many days the gyms are closed. But we are paying now!.
Years ago, I tried to cancel at a Gold's gym and had to fill out a cancelation form and deliver to a location since I couldn't online. Without telling me, the attendant threw away my cancelation form, denied that I had ever canceled and Gold's gym continued billing me for months and months afterwards without notice.
For those of you with the desire to cancel you can go to 24hourfitness.com, click on the link and follow the instructions to submit your request to cancel. The $600 I paid 15 years ago for a $50/year lifetime membership was one if the best investments I ever made. THANK YOU!!
I cancelled 6+ months ago and have all my cancellation documents. Make sure they don't re-activate your account and charge you too. 24 Hour Fitness is currently in bankruptcy and unable to issue refunds without talking to the court. That extension will apply at the end of the membership. If you have a pre-paid membership, your end date will be extended to cover the amount of time the clubs are closed in your area. I still think charging through April 15th is bullshit. My billing date is on the 11th. They also updated their homepage with a direct link to cancel your membership.
