Anaglypta. Anaglypta is a range of paintable textured wallcoverings made from paper or vinyl. It is produced on traditional paper and paste-the-wall substrates. Anaglypta is often compared to Lincrusta which is made from gelled paste of linseed oil and wood flour. [1] Lincrusta is considered to be a heavier version but more durable than Anaglypta.
It was widely used in Britain in the 1970s, mainly with the familiar stippled and swirled patterns. Artex was also occasionally used on walls. [2] As of 2023 Artex is still sold, [3] but the textured ceiling finishes are much less popular. One issue with Artex ceilings is that matching the pattern seamlessly when repairing is impossible.
