Thane district is a district in the Konkan Division of Maharashtra, India, with its headquarters in Thane city. It is the most populated district in the country, with 8 million inhabitants, and has a history of administrative changes and divisions.

Until 1 August 2014 the district was divided into 15 talukas, viz.
