    Any Shimano, Campagnolo, or SRAM GXP crank will fit BB86 perfectly well. Avoid 30mm spindle cranks with this bottom bracket standard and you’ll be fine. My LBS also used a Wheels Manufacturing BB86 when I switched to GRX. Owner said better quality than the Shimano.

    Shimano uses a cup and cone design with loose ball bearings. If the spindle has loosened up, the ball bearings may have started floating around. Usually you will hear a grinding noise as the pedal/bearings destroy themselves. Not that this has ever happened to me or anything LOL... But, it sounds like yours might just need to be tightened up.
