I drew a little diagram of what I am looking at doing, and the weaker battery won't get the higher charge, it will try to pass through the inverter and reverse charge the weaker battery. Not good! So, around 44 to 70 amp @ 24 volt battery charger is a good range (decent fuel efficiency when bulk charging, not overheating genset/alternator/wiring during hours of battery charging). The minimum suggested battery charger output--Would be around 5% rate of charge: 390 AH * 0.05 rate of charge = 19.5 Amps (so you can EQ batteries when needed)
5% rate of charge is pretty low--And I would suggest 10% or so as a good compromise. If, you have 5 parallel strings of 12 volt @ 200 AH batteries, that would be a 24 volt @ 1,000 AH battery bank. That is a large bank and you would be looking at a ~100 Amp*Hour battery charger.

Since the cost of a 12/24 volt "battery balancer/equalizer" is not much different than a 24 VDC to 120 VAC AC inverter (and roughly the same conversion efficiencies/losses), converting the 12 volt lighting to 120 VAC (and any 12 VDC appliances too) is about the same costs, and also allows you to now send significant amounts of power upwards of 100's of feet using standard house wiring techniques.
Gets a pretty good electrolyte boil going. It is a service garage type Shumacher charger with 20, 40, 65, and 225 amp selections. The voltage isn't very high, about 13.4ish or so. I may charge five cells (10 volts) at 13.4ish for equalization purposes once a full charge is achieved. Which will take awhile with a 1652 pound battery.

Purchase a quality MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar charge controller for $250-$400+ to use 95% of the Isofoton solar panels to charge either a 12 volt or 24 volt battery bank. A classroom I help with normally sets up two Mitsubishi 150's panels in parallel, plugged into a Sunsei 12/24V CC25000 charge controller.
A simple 12vdc system only running led external lights. Assembled the system on a bench, all good. Installed it and now the controller is treating the battery as 24v. Of course all paramaters now reflect that of a 24v battery and cannot be changed to reflect a 12v battery. Result is now a non-functioning system.
