Call your hospital's in-house pharmacy. they may have them. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I don't think there's an easy way to look this up online. The DEA website doesn't have that capability, and apparently there are online databases of DEA numbers, but they require a subscription. You're right.

The DEA is supposed to be used only for controlled substances. Some pharmacies ask for it for noncontrolled substances - which I always refuse to give; the fewer people who know my DEA, the better, IMHO. Therefore, you can write for non-narcotic meds as long as you have a medical license. Your NPI number is not relevant here.

Jun 12, 2020. #5. I think the OP has to clarify the "DEA" thing. I think that the OP is referring to a "state dispenser's license" (or whatever equivalent in states that need them). I just got off the phone with the dea. One dea license can prescribe in the same state at multiple locations. You run into needing a separate dea if you are administering (sublocade) or storing controls at more than 1 location. Mar 2, 2023. #6.
