Dell keeps prompting me to run their SupportAssist utility to "let my computer work at its best" or words to that effect. i have a Dell desktop (XPS 8700) and a Dell laptop (Inspiron 5537).
Dell support assist can be uninstalled and reinstalled. Open the dell website > enter product or serial number > view drivers > confirm the listing. Use control panel for un-installation. The Dell support assist is useful for drivers, updating BIOS, recalls, etc. So update drivers and BIOS before uninstalling the software.
Run Revo. Select the program (Dell Support Assistant) Uninstall (don't worry about creating a restore point if prompted. Waste of time) Remove everything (tick all/every box) Do not reboot even if prompted. Select the Advanced option and run REvo to remove all leftover files, folders and registry entries.
